Curriculum VitaeI am interested in how fundamental material properties can influence Earth processes. I currently study the role that atomic defects (specifically dislocations) and microstructure play in shear localization, focusing on the lithospheric mantle. Shear localization is a crucial property to plate tectonics, and theoretical analysis offers a unique method of study for the important mechanisms undergone in the deep Earth. I am also involved in projects to study material properties experimentally through high pressure methods such as shock compression.
